About Us
We are a group of people who enjoy thinking and discussing ideas, with no limits on subject matter. We meet, we have a pint and share our thoughts! EASY. The requirements to the society are that you must be open minded, willing to learn and willing to share. If you meet these strict criteria, please join the group! If you have an interesting thought, ideas for a project or even a business venture share it with the group. Maybe others will help you make it happen! We've had several projects and business ventures result from our meetings. Come, grab a pint, share your ideas and participate in projects that interest you.
How does one participate?
Contribute to this wiki (You can create an account by clicking in the top right, then contact us on email or the facebook group to have your privileges raised to edit; this is not longer automated because of spammers editing the wiki)
You can subscribe to our email list by sending an email to 'society-request at mail.yashy.com' with the message "subscribe" and follow the instructions. If you don't see your city listed in Facebook section below, and want to start a meeting in your city, send an email to this list.
You can use yis-vic-request for the Victoria email list, or yis-ottawa-request for the Ottawa email list.

What You Can Expect at a Meeting
We meet at a local pub which is announced on Facebook and Twitter usually no later than two days before the meeting.
When your group is together, you should democratically decide how you prefer to host your meetings.
In Victoria, initially our meetings were speaker driven. A year later, they have transformed to a more open, free flowing discussion. Whatever your group prefers.
One of the issues we had is some members tend to be negative, always tearing ideas down. In those cases, we encourage those people, "How you can you make this idea better?".
If things get heated, we have in the past followed DeBono's 6 hats of critical thinking.
